Dr. Cal Raymond Sanders, M.D., 82, passed away on September 17, 2023. He was born on March 15, 1941 to Garland and Dorothy Milner Sanders in Stephens, AR. He was a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, with a B. S. in chemistry. He worked two years as a chemist for Union Carbide in Texas City, TX. He spent four years at UAMS and received a M.D. Degree, and interned at St. Vincent Infirmary, and spent three years as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force with one-year remote duty in Iceland. He practiced as a family practitioner in Camden, AR until he retired, but as he always said you never really retire if you love medicine like I do. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He enjoyed quail hunting, and riding cutting horses, but his greatest joy was healing people.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Beth Sanders. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Sanders of Camden, AR; two sons, Cal (Rusty) R. Sanders, Jr. of Harmony Grove, AR and Tim Sanders and his wife, Bridget of Camden, AR; seven grandchildren, Taylor Fife and his wife, Virginia, Stephen Smith, Mark Smith, Shelby Neal and her husband, Ty, Justin Weld and his wife, Nicky, Austin Weld and his wife, Kendall, and Nicole Sanders; five great-grandchildren, Callan Fife, Alston Fife, Aubrey Neal, Tucker Neal, and Weston Neal; one brother, Sandy Sanders of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Jacky Gunter of McNeil, AR and Shelby Marcus of Dallas, TX; a nephew, Jeff Edwards; and a host of family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at Proctor Chapel on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 10:00AM., with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will take place from 9:00AM-10:00AM before the service. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
