Bobby Gene Coopwood was born on November 21, 1929 in Blevins, Arkansas to Floyd and Inez Coopwood. He passed away December 4, 2022 at the age of 93 at Ouachita Nursing and Rehab in Camden Arkansas. He served in the army and was a Korean War veteran. Bobby was employed at International Paper in Camden for more than 40 years. He was an outdoor enthusiast. He loved to bird hunt and had many bird dogs through the years. Bobby loved crappie fishing on Lake Ouachita where he had many good times and made lots of friends at Highway 27 Fishing Village. He was a good cook and famous for his Mexican cornbread. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church. He was an incredibly giving person and always welcomed the chance to entertain family and friends. He was a beloved Father, brother, Papaw and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife, Reba; daughter, Paula Douthit and her husband, David; grandchildren, Robin Hicks of Gloucester, VA and his fiancé, Taylor, Kevin Hicks of Lenexa, KS and his wife, Manisha and Rachel Jones of Hot Springs, AR and her husband, Ryan. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Other survivors include his sister, Linda Robinson of Palestine, TX and her partner, Richard Trochy; brother, Michael Coopwood of Houston, TX and his partner, Angie Schmidt; sister, Donna Greensage of Rosharon, TX and her husband, Roy; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Marilyn Myrick and Carol Kimball.
Friends are cordially invited to visitation at Proctor Funeral Home at 442 Jefferson St. SW in Camden, AR, on the evening of Tuesday Dec 6, from 5-7. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 am on the 7th of December, 2022 at Proctor Funeral Home where the Reverend Kathryn Burchfield & Pastor Don Phillips will serve as officiants. Burial will follow at Mt. Horeb Cemetery. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Ouachita Nursing and Rehab and the Medical Center of South Arkansas. The family also requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the Fairview United Methodist Church Food Pantry in Bobby Coopwood's name.
