Betty J. (Overturf) Jackson, 87, of Camden, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020.

Betty was born to Troy and Ollie (Martin) Overturf in Centralia, Illinois, on October 27, 1932, which she claimed made her love all things pumpkin. Betty grew up in Centralia, Illinois, graduating from Centralia High School in 1950.

After high school, Betty moved to Memphis, Tennessee, to attend secretarial school and work at Oakland Cemetery, which she said was a "real quiet" job. While in Memphis, she also agreed to a blind date with Carl W. Jackson, who, six months later, she married on January 21, 1955. When the newlyweds moved to Camden, Arkansas, Betty continued to work as a secretary at Bagpack International Paper Company and later the Camden News.

Betty was a believer in Christ and a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was an active volunteer in gardening and music clubs, Junior Auxiliary, St. John's Episcopal Church, and a "pink lady" for the Ouachita County Medical Center gift shop. Betty was also an avid bridge player, spent 45 years as an early morning walker, and enjoyed playing tennis and golf. To meet these many responsibilities, Betty acquired a lead foot, which resulted in quite a few speeding tickets. She earned her most puzzling one for reversing out of her driveway too fast.

Betty is survived by her son, Brad (Alexis) Jackson of Sugar Land, Texas; her daughter, Bridgette (Chuck) Booth of Tyler, Texas; and her daughter, Tiffany (Greg) Cox of Camden, Arkansas. Betty is also survived by her grandchildren, Hunter Jackson of Houston, Texas; Hannah (Kirk) Elliott of Clearfield, Utah; Courtney Jackson of Dallas, Texas; Tanner Cox of Little Rock, Arkansas; Lauren Cox of Little Rock, Arkansas; Rachel Booth of Greensboro, North Carolina; and Nicholas Jackson of Sugar Land, Texas; as well as her cousin, Dot Cromwell of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her infant daughter, Carla Jean; her brother, Robert; and her parents, Troy and Ollie Overturf.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Camden, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, Ouachita County Medical Center, and the Alzheimer's Association.
