Benjamin Garrett "Gary" Martin, 92, of Camden, AR passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Born July 31, 1930 in Cleburne, TX to Marshall H. Martin, Sr. and Agnes Lindgren Martin, Gary married Mary Ann Slaughter Martin in 1960. The couple first moved to Camden in 1963.

From an early age, Gary was the consummate Boy Scout. He lived the Boy Scout oath every day of his life. He was an Eagle Scout and attained honor in the Order of the Arrow. Gary was an Air Force Veteran and served in the early stages of the Cold War in divided Berlin, Germany. After being Honorable Discharged, he sought a MBA at the University of Redlands in Redlands, CA.

Locally he was a member of First Presbyterian Church. After a period in Stuttgart AR, he returned to Camden in 1973 to manage and run Slaughter's Dairy, his wife's family dairy farm.

Heeding the call to ministry, later in life he became a Lay Pastor in the Pines Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Slaughter Martin of Camden, AR; son, Todd Martin and wife, Marti of Fayetteville, AR; daughter, Kimberly Anderson and husband, Mark of Camden, AR; granddaughters, Jill Martin Myers and husband, Casey of Cave Springs, AR, Holly Martin of Springdale, AR, Alexandria Martin Hahn and husband, Philip of Arlington, VA; great grandchildren, Emily Kate Myers and Leighton Myers; brother, James K. Martin of Dallas, TX.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, March 18, 2023 at New Union Cemetery in Camden, AR. A memorial service will follow at 11:00AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Camden, AR. David Stith-Bethune will officiate the service. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church.
