Obituary

Annie Mae Smith passed away and entered her heavenly home on Saturday, June 13, 2026. She was born on October 18, 1956, to the late George and Essie Smith in Chidester, Arkansas.

She graduated from the Arkansas School for the Deaf and Blind in 1980. Annie Mae was a faithful member of Madison Church of Christ and attended regularly until her health began to fail.

Annie Mae was kind, friendly, and brought joy to everyone around her. In her later years, she resided at Ouachita Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, and participating in the ONRC Beauty Pageants. Although Annie Mae did not have children of her own, she was especially proud of all her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Essie Smith; her brothers, Scott Smith, Napoleon Smith, Willie Smith, Jr., Henry Smith, George Smith, Johnie Smith, and Terry Smith; and her sisters, Bessie B. Burton, Gracie Wallace, Gerlene Confron, and Annie Ree Gulley.

Annie Mae leaves to cherish her loving memory her brothers, Curtis James Anderson and Perry Smith, both of Camden, Arkansas, and Earl Smith (Ruby) of Bluff City, Arkansas; her sister, Emma Dean Gulley of Chidester, Arkansas; and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Smith of Bluff City, Arkansas. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family members who will miss her dearly.
