Devonne Freeland, 78 of Camden passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Ouachita County Medical Center. He was born January 9, 1935 in Rayville, LA to Edgar “Doc” and Alene Freeland. He was a 1953 graduate of Fairview High School. He served in the US Army in Fort Lewis Washington 1957-1959. He was co-owner of Hefner Precast Concrete in Cleburne, TX. Devonne and his wife, Clara, lived in Arlington, TX for 30 years before returning to Camden to retire. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Spencer Freeland. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Clara Urrey Freeland; sister, Jimmie Rae Watson Hooper (Buddy) of Camden; nephews, Tommy Watson (Kay), Keith Watson of Magnolia, David Mulligan (Cathy) of Sheridan, Sam Mulligan (Mary Elizabeth) of Camden, Randall Freeland of Hot Springs Village; nieces, Nancy Mulligan Johnson (Tim) of Fairview, TX and Becky Mulligan Ives (Dan) of Camden, Donja Freeland of Hot Springs and many great nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Proctor Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Richard Piles will officiate the service. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
